COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- To develop an understanding of the computer as a tool for executing ideas
- To develop and strengthen skills in design software, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- To develop an understanding of bitmap and vector graphics
- To develop a basic understanding of typography and develop a typographic vocabulary
- To integrate type and image, exploring hierarchy of information and spatial relationships through basic layout in InDesign, including exploration of grid systems
- To develop best practices for file management
TODAY:
- Open up Photoshop and play with Tools and Layers
- File management: Saving files in directories, and making .jpg, .psd, and .tiff files.
HOMEWORK:
Using Adobe Photoshop, you will create a document (300 ppi); this document should be about you.
The document must include a heading/title, and 1 or 2 paragraphs of information. On separate layers, you should include at least 2 examples of your work. Please include a photo of yourself. You decide how you want to display the information: is it meant to be in a magazine, or is it a poster?
Save both a .PSD file, and a .TIFF copy.
