My name is Charles Ross, II. I'm studying Graphic Design for my last semester here at TU!
My reason for studying art stems back to my days as a kid. I always liked cartoons, anime, manga, etc. And since then, I've worked my hardest to get better at illustration so I can one day create comics and art of my own! (I have some samples of my work down below as well.) And yes, while I know illustration is only a segment of what a designer should focus on, I feel I'm able to be the most expressive when putting pen to paper and bringing my stories to life!
Unfortunately, I don't have any centimental reason for taking this class... I just need the credit to graduate. (Sorry, Ryan.) HOWEVER, I have been told that knowing th eins and outs of HTML and CSS are really important for a designer. Especially one who's showing intrigue in UX/UI. So, I feel like getting a base-line understanding of how HTML coding works could do me justice later.
As for my hobbies outside of class: I'm really big on video games (My favorites right now being Guilty Gear, Osu, Terraria and VARIOUS different Sonic The Hedgehog games). I also like roller blading, swimming, and longboarding. I'm also trying to get better at cooking, so I like watching videos about different recipes, too! Apart from those hobbies, I spend most of my time drawing at home while losing myself to some good music.
I work on campus as a student designer for our Creative Services department! I, along with my team, are responsible for making digital ads, flyers, apparel, stickers, buttons, and even illustrations of our school mascot Doc! I take great pride in it... there's nothing like finding someone on campus wearing something that you made yourself :)
This is a four page comic I did a year ago for one of my illustration classes. It's about these two alien travellers named Gapplar and Cici who scavenge the galaxy for scraps to sell for money. After a chance encounter (and an accidental encapturement) with a long lost species of pyro-kinetic elementals, the two are encountered by one of the mechanical "Quellers" of an intergalactic life protection coalition; Using the animal's kinetic powers for the company's corrupt financial gain. Now, Gapplar and Cici roam the cosmos, sheltering the endangered species of Kinetics to protect them from harm and keep them away from the coalition's grasp.
