Instructions:

1) Find someone that wants you to build them a website.
This could be another artist (friend or family member), a small business owner, musician, whoever you want.

2) They need to be able to work with you over the next 2 weeks. And, they need to be willing to help you plan the site, give you materials (such as images, sound or video), and give you feedback on the site.

3) The client can not be someone in this class.

Requirements:

1) You must use an "External Style Sheet"
http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_howto.asp

2) The site needs to be ADA compliant

-all images must have an “alt” tag
-you can't use Flash
-no text can be an image

3) You must change the style & color of everything (including text, background, links, etc.), nothing can have a default color or style.

4) Obviously, the overall design should match the subject matter.

5) Write a 1 paragraph statement describing your experience working with a client (please print it).

Timeline:

this week:
-Familiarize yourself with HTML & CSS, start planning the website.
-Pick a client, and design a page.
- You can start coding, or come up with a great design for your website using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

2nd week:
Complete most of the site. Have at least a few working webpages completed, and linked together.

3rd week
Finish the site.

what you will turn in on Fri. Oct. 5:
1) Have your site uploaded to a server before class
2) You will turn in a folder, with a CD, with your name (written with a Sharpie), that has your working website on it
-all images used in the site, all the .html pages, and CSS should be saved on the disc.
3) A printed statement describing your experience working with someone on a web site.

Grading:

Your grade will be determined by your ability to turn things in on time, and follow directions.
The grade for your finished project will be based on your attention to detail, and the overall look of the website.
All webpages designed for the site should have a consistent design or "feel".
All pages should be clearly labeled, have titles, and all the links should work.
Make sure your site is easy to navigate.
Your presentation will also affect your grade.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.
