Assign Project #1

Dear ART466 Class,

After giving it some thought, I’m cancelling class this evening. I’m sorry to inconvenience you all, but I’m not feeling well today. I know it’s only the 3rd week of class, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’d like to set a good example, and not come to campus with a cough and a sore throat. Likewise, if you do not feel well this semester, please do not come to class.

*You have HTML & CSS pages due this evening. Please email me your homework: rtsmith@towson.edu

Note: You can use WeTransfer.com or Google Drive, but I don’t think you can send .zip files directly to Towson email addresses. Please let me know if you have any trouble sending your homework, or if you have any questions.

Originally, I was going to assign your 1st project this evening, and the due date was going to be March 9th. However, I’m pushing back the due date to March 16. Requirements for the project will be uploaded to the class website later today. In short, you will make a web page (or pages) about an art exhibition. This exhibit can be current, something from the past, or you can make up your own imaginary art show. This week, you can start by picking a subject and/or artists. Choose a title for the exhibition, find or make up a location, and start making sketches for the website.

This time next week, please have some (approximately 10) images to work with. You could also find a video or two (on YouTube or Vimeo), that could be embedded into your webpage. When planning your CSS styles, start by coming up with a limited color palette. Think about how the overall color scheme can compliment the artwork that you will be displaying on the webpage.
